Survivor (still the best reality show in the world)

Categories

A reality show, an interesting social experiment, where a group of participants are thrown into wild, remote places (like the islands of Fiji or the uninhabited coast of Polynesia) without any equipment or means of survival. All the participant has is only his clothes. Through a series of challenges, people fight to be the last one standing and claim their hard-earned prize of $1 million.

Why I recommend it: I’ll start with the fact that “Survivor”, since its start back in 2000, is still considered the best reality show in the world and consistently collects high ratings every new season. Having established simple but harsh rules (remote place / live as you want / eat what you find / every 3 days someone flies out), the organizers try to come up with some new social format every six months (for example, “Kind vs. . Evil”, “Our Generation vs. Old School”, etc.) and therefore there are very few boring episodes of “Survivor”.

It’s very interesting to watch because, damn, it’s all for real. People sleep somewhere under a tree on the coast, suffer from all sorts of bugs, spiders and hunger; every three days there is a competition for an award (where food or a tarpaulin can be at stake) and for elimination - and passions run so high that the best films and TV series sometimes quietly smoke on the sidelines.

The perfect balance of the show's gameplay is that it's not enough to just be big and strong to win Survivor. Well, ok, you will drag all the physical competitions and get temporary immunity, and in the end, cunning social intriguers with a lot of connections in the team will expose you to attack. What you need to be like to get the title of “Last Man Standing” CBS and American television have been finding out for 20 years in a row.

My favorite reality show (along with “The Apprentice”); This is exactly the project that makes the heart beat faster. I recommend it as strongly as I can (in the range of seasons 1-20; everything after season 20 - which was the unrivaled pinnacle of the show - is boring and not worth watching, with very few exceptions).

Briefly: reality show / 2 teams / remote uninhabited place / $1 million awards / severe physical and social tests / everything is for real / only one winner / charming host / sea, jungle, savannah / all seasons are different

How to watch: you will have to watch in English and by ear (I improved my English so much). Although maybe someone has already made subtitles - look for it. The best seasons are “Cook Islands” (season 13) and “Heroes vs. Villains” (season 20). But in order to fully enjoy them, you need to know who is who, so I don’t recommend watching the best ones right away, but to get up to speed, watch this: any two or three seasons in the range of seasons 1-12 and then “Cook Islands” and any two or three in the range of seasons 14-19 and then “Heroes vs. Villains.”

As you search, be careful, there is a very high chance of running into a spoiler about who won the show; all interest is immediately lost.
